The three Main Enemies of Oromummaa are Hybrid-Meshreftites, Amhara-Menelikites and Tegaru-Melesites!

The Oromo and our national identity (Oromummaa) as well as our language Afaan Oromo have got enemies for the last 3000 years. These foes fought against Oromumma in general and against Afaan Oromo in particular so that many Oromos in the north and east part of Ethiopia lost their identity and language. In the north, they are habeshanized to become Amhara and Tegaru as well as in the east they are mainly somalanized. Surprisingly, still there are three main enemies, who are in essence Naftagnas, trying to undermine both Oromiffaa and Oromummaa:

– Amhara-Menelikites (Amhara naftagnas) are bad enemy, whom we already defeated in 1991, but they are yet striving to come back with intrigues.

– Tegaru-Melesites (Tegaru naftagnas) are the worse enemy, whom we chased away from Finfinne in 2018 and now we are slowly but surely sending them to their last grave from Maqale.

– Hybrid- Meshreftites (Hybrid naftagnas) are the worst enemies, who are now in power in Finfinne palace as promoters of Amharanet at the cost of Oromummaa. They are the PAE (pro-Amharanet elites), who should be replaced by POE (pro-Oromummaa elites), if we really want Oromummaa be victorious at last!

The Oromo fought against the oppressive system of Naftagna for many years. The main charakter of this system is keeping and further promoting Amharigna’s dominance at the cost of Oromiffaa. In a sort of democravy, without any question, Afaan Oromo will be the leading and primary language of the whole Ethiopia. That is why the Naftanga system is dictatorial and imposes Amharigna by force on all nations and nationalities. The past Amhara Naftagnas (A-Naftagnas) and Tegaru Naftagnas (T-Naftagnas) did it; now the Hybrid Naftagnas (H-Naftagnas) led by Abiy Ahmed are doing the same. All the three revere Amharigna instead of giving due respect to Oromiffaa. A-Naftagnas were bad, but fighting them was not as such difficult for they explicitly acted as Naftagna. T-Naftagnas were worse for they talked about right of nations, but did the same job of imposing Amharinga as the only federal language. The present regime of H-Naftagna is the worst, especially for the Oromo, because they are masked as Oromo liberators and divided Oromo nationalists effectively in to two (oponents and supporters of Abiy). Thus, the struggle against the H-Naftagna is the most bitter fight the Oromo is facing. How marveleous to see the Oromo fighting against all the three formes of Naftsgna’s system of domination. Unlike the Amharas and Tegarus, who whole heartedly supported their own Naftagnas respectively, most of the Oromo are vehmently against the H-Naftagnas.

Otherwise, thank you all for reading my opinions till now, be it they are constructive or not to the pragmatic move of Oromo liberation and the liberation struggle of all oppressed nations in Ethiopia (Great Oromia). I have tried to contribute my part for the last many years. One of the fruits I used to enjoy was the tendency of all Oromo nationalists to preach and practice Oromo unity for freedom. This is one of the results of our efforts for many years. Thanks Waaqa, we could silence to some extent EPP cadres and some “naive Oromo”, who used to sow a discord among different Oromo groups based on region, party and religion as well as using the division parameters like leaders vs followers, young generation vs old generation, etc..

It seems that all Oromo nationalists in the ruling party of Ethiopia, in the opposition parties aka Oromo democratic federalists, and in the rebel fronts like Oromo Liberation Front agreed on the necessity of Oromo unity as a source of our force to liberate Oromo people and Oromo region from domination, exploitation and tyranny. The Oromo nation being the third big native nation in Africa (next to Berber and Hausa), our liberation is definitely a precedence and an example for the future self-determination of all national groups in Africa, be it they are big or small, and have their autonomy at different levels (state, province, district or county) of administrative arrangement of the future African federation.

There was time of “struggle for democracy per election” in Ethiopia for 27 years under TPLF rule. The TPLF wanted the election for legitimacy in front of the international community (not necessarily in front of Ethiopian nations and peoples) to rule further for many years. It had prepared itself after the defeat it experienced in the election of 2005. The final preparation it undertook was the Codes of Conduct it agreed on with three unitarist parties, which it desperately needed for legitimacy, and as binding procedure to secure its victory of the 2010 election. All the three “opposition” parties which signed agreement of Codes of Conduct with the incumbent were sympathizers of the ex-assymilative Ethiopia of A-Naftagnas; they chose that T-Nafxagna survive further instead of being challenged and transformed by democratic unionists like Medrek at home and PAFD in Diaspora. Why did this alliance of A-Nafxagna admirers and T-Naftanyas happen in 2010? Was the movement of Oromo people and other oppressed nations for liberty endangering the existence of Abyssinian domination system, which the two Nafxagnas tried to save?

It is clear that all oppressed nations in Ethiopia in general, and Oromo nation in particular, are fighting for their freedom for the last more than one century. The two Naftagnas in the contrary sang and danced about the necessity of “unity and democracy.” Unfortunately, there can never be unity of nations and democracy of the empire without first accepting and respecting the God-given rights of citizens as individuals and freedom of nations as groups. That is why political organizations like PAFD used to advocate for freedom to be achieved before establishing democracy in Ethiopia. Liberty from exploitation, tyranny and oppression under both the Amhara Nafxenyas and Tegaru Naftagna (TPLF) should have come to end. If there is such liberty of citizens and nations, the Oromo people are the last to fear the propagated unity and democracy, which were untiredly preached by those who want to keep the empire’s domination system by any means.

We all know that liberty is a concept of political philosophy and identifies the condition in which an individual or a group has right to act according to his or her own will. So the question we all need to ask is, do individual citizens and collective nations as a group in Ethiopia had such right to act according to their will? The answer is a big NO! That is why before preaching about democracy, unity and peace, all concerned stakeholders needed to fight for such liberty together. The attempt of pro-liberty forces to come together like what they did in Medrek and PAFD was very encouraging to say the least. Bcause of the fact that such alliances first fought for freedom from TPLF’s tyranny, the probability of forging both democracy and unity based on their free-will after getting rid of H-Naftagnas is high.

The attempt of EPP to tell us that we already had achieved freedom, unity based on free will and democracy under their rule is the 21st century big LIE we ever heard in the world. EPP talks freedom and walks tyranny; talks unity, but walks divide-and-rule method; talks peace, but walks state terrorism; talks democracy, but walks dictatorship. What the H-Neftagnas talk and walk are diametrically opposite. What about the opposition? Here we should differentiate the unitarists like Ezema from the unionists like Medrek. The unitarists being nostalgic admirers of the A-Naftagna emulated the T-Naftagnas in their hypocrisy. They talk democracy, but walk to achieve Amhara elite’s dictatorship; they talk unity, but want to keep the empire with its domination system, etc. The unionists were the only genuine opposition group struggling for both freedom and democracy as a precondition for union of liberated nations in the empire/region to forge a possible union state of Ethiopia as a base for future United States of Africa.

Of course, democracy is a political government either carried out by people (direct democracy), or the power to govern is granted to elected representatives (representative democracy). In this sense, democracy, which was tried by monarchy of T. Mekonnen, by military dictatorship of Mengistu and by ethno-cratic dictatorship of Meles Zenawi were pseudo-democracies we had in the empire. Actually, it is practically impossible to democratize an empire, where there is a sort of domination system. For an empire to be democratized, domination system of the three Naftagnas has to be destroyed. This showes us that first comes national liberty, then follows regional democracy. Democracy under national slavery (unity without liberty), such as what we saw in Abyssinian empire system, was only a dream, which can never be realized. Oromo nation in particular, and all other oppressed nations in general, need to fight for our freedom by any means. Then, we can realize democracy in a liberated Oromo region and in other liberated national areas; that is why democratization of Abyssinian empire is a futile exercise even though it is one of the means leading us to our goal. To achieve liberty we want unity and we have to be well-informed (empowered). Empowering Oromo nation and other oppressed nations could come through unity for freedom of all national liberation fronts. So, we united first to achieve liberty from EPP’s tyranny and then we can forge democracy in a multi-national Ethiopian union. Democratization of such a new union is possible in a contrary to the attempt of democratizing the Abyssinian empire.

Regarding the unity we do talk about, there are two types of unity: the one required to achieve liberty, which is unity of freedom movements of all nations (unity for freedom), and the other one is which we need after liberty, that is union of free peoples in the region. To have the first one (unity for freedom), it was good to have common ground for all opposition freedom fighters regarding what to achieve after liberty. The common ground can only be to have a union of liberated nations in the region. The three Naftagnas, those who want to dismantle Oromia (wish of ex-A- Naftagna) and those who wanted to keep the de-autonomized Oromia (wish of T-Naftagna), must be dealt with by cooperation and coordination of the two parts of unionist opposition, i.e. by working together of those, who want to achieve only Oromia’s autonomy in federation, like the OFC, and those who do fight for Oromia’s independence in a possible union of free peoples like the OLF.

So let the unionist opposition groups in form of Medrek and PAFD cooperate and coordinate our efforts. I hope the other ‘quasi-unionists’ like Ezema join cooperation or we will see in the near future if they are part and parcel of the unitarist admirers of A-Naftagnas. I know that specially Ezema already made an acceptance of unconditional Ethiopian unity as precondition to forge any sort of alliance with PAFD member organizations. With such arrogant position, Ezema showed its color of tendency to long for the unitarist Ethiopia. I just recommend Ezema and the likes to make right of citizens and wish of nations for liberty as common ground, not their mantra about unconditional unity. Only free citizens and free nations can decide on the issue of Yes vs No to union of free peoples in the country, in which we can forge democracy of multi-national Ethiopian union, of course, after securing our individual liberty and national freedom. Thanks to Waaqa, it seems that we are in the last phase to achieve our national freedom. Our next move must be to get rid of the H-Naftagnas and then establish multinational democracy in Ethiopia. That is why we tend to say: national freedom, such as Oromia’s liberty, precedes regional democracy like that of Ethiopian democracy! May Waaqa help us get victory on the Naftsgna’s system of domination in general and on the currently ruling H-Naftagna in particular!

Galatooma!
